Project Stories

For two years I worked as a fall protection technician specialist, the role combined sales, technical support and installation of permanent fall protection systems.
Some days I was out on rooftops, chimneys or industrial sites installing equipment or inspecting existing systems. Other days I was in the office creating offers, handling customer contacts and preparing project solutions.
I also carried out product and fall protection trainings, supporting teams so they could use PPE (Personal protection equipment) correctly and with confidence. The work took me across Sweden and into many different industries, and at times even offshore. It was a mix of technical problem solving, customer responsibility and hands on safety work.

Challenges & Solutions

Different industires
Every site came with its own risks, whether it was an oil rig, a food factory, a tall chimney or a warehouse. No projects were the same, the challenge was to find and install the right type of fall protection adapted to the environment.
Sometimes that meant fixed anchor systems on rooftops, other times movable PPE or rescue setups in confined spaces. The key was always to match the solution to the conditions and make sure it could be used safely.

Balancing office and field
The role was never just about installations. A big part of the work happened before and after the site visits. For example creating offers, prospecting visits, customer support and planning projects while I was travelling across Sweden for inspections and system installations. Switching between office work and field work was a challenge, but it taught me how to stay flexible and keep both areas of responsibility moving forward at the same time.

Special solutions and training
Standard products did not always fit the job, some projects required specific solutions such as anchor points, lifeline systems, personal rescue devices, retractable lanyards or davit arm systems for special environment.
I also carried out inspections of equipment and complete systems to ensure they remained dependable over time.
Just as important was the training, where I guided teams in using PPE correctly, giving them confidence in the systems and ensuring daily safety.

Looking back

Working across so many different areas and industries also taught me a lot about people.
How we think, communicate, share information and handle situations is never the same. Being exposed to all those environments helped me learn how to adapt quickly to different situations and environments.
You do not always get it right the first time, but you always take something with you to the next.
